Drug court has been discussed on this blog previously. This is an alternative sentence for people who have non-violent charges related to drugs. This helps the person to stay out of prison. It focuses on rehabilitation and getting clean while staying out of legal trouble. It is a second chance program.

A former Martinsburg football player recently received word that he has been accepted to drug court in connection with a string of drug charges that he faced. The drug charges weren’t his only legal issue. He was also involved in a theft case that he noted was due to him having to come up with money for legal fees and costs.

He was also previously convicted of holding a woman against her will during a home invasion. Other charges have also occurred, but hopefully this chance at drug court is going to make a difference in this 22-year-old man’s life.

The news of his acceptance into drug court comes after he was sentenced to serve an incarceration of two to 22 years at a court hearing in December. With his criminal history dating back to 2013, the reprieve is something that might have some people wondering about.

If you are facing drug charges, you should explore the possibility of drug court. This program could help you to get clean, stay clean and remain out of legal troubles if you follow the program as intended. Of course, this isn’t an option for everyone so you should find out if your case qualifies and if you are going to be able to keep up with the terms.
